Digital TV Switch Over
In October 2012 the R.O.I. turned off Analogue Terrestrial TV Broadcasts and therefore now only have a Digital TV service. The Broadcast Standard chosen by the Irish Authorities is different to the rest of Europe and as such any Standard Definition TV's bought in the UK or else where in Europe will not work in Ireland.
You can watch British and European programmes via satellite whilst in R.O.I. but not RTE.
If you have a normal TV and want to watch Irish Broadcasters such as RTE then you will need to purchase an Irish set top box in Ireland. Thier equivalent to Feeview is called Saorview.

Avtex L185TR 12v TV - Description
The Avtex L185TR is the TV only sister Avtex model to the popular L185DR TV/DVD Combi. This is not a cut down model with inferior spec but has all the same features and specification as the "DR" version simply minus the DVD player. It has an A+ HD Ready screen giving outstanding picture quality and excellent viewing angles. Housed in one of the latest style "Ultra Slim" cabinets it is very stylish when used either free standing on the supplied pedestal or when mounted on a VESA compatible bracket.
Being designed and manufactured from the ground up for use in a boat, caravan, motorhome or truck the L185TR has superior quality components and excellent build quality to cope with the increased vibration and harshness encountered on todays roads. The superior quality and LED back light combine to help give very low power consumption and it is also safe to use with variable input voltages (10.5-28v DC & 230v AC). This model is increasingly being used by truckers because of the 12v/24v capability.
The now familiar and unique to the Avtex range AQT (Avtex Quick Tune) system enables you to easily set up the Television with one button. This stress free system will also put all the channels in the correct order when you tune the Digital Freeview programmes. Unlike many inferior 12v TV's "Target Region Tuning" is also included. This part of the very latest Digital Tick Approval Specification and aids setting up the desired broadcasts when situated in between two or more transmitters.
The picture and sound quality are very impressive and considerably better than any of the rival manufacturers TV's we have tried. If you want to watch more than live TV programmes the L185TR has a scart socket for connecting standard definition external sources and two HDMI sockets for HD devices along with an earphone socket and VGA connectivity.
The L185TR can pause/record live TV from the Digital (FREEVIEW) tuner to an external pen drive/usb hdd (not included) via the USB socket. This is the only source that can be recorded and supports Hard Drives up to 250Gb in size (if you have a larger HDD you will need to partion it to 250Gb or less sections).

Please note that the latest generation of TV's are significantly slimmer than previous models. If you intend to mount your L185TR on a VESA wall bracket please ensure that you use bolts of an appropriate length as using bolts that are too long may damage the TV. We can supply short bolts if required, please contact us.
Avtex L185TR - Connecting to 12v circuit
The Avtex L185TR is supplied with a 12v lead terminated in a cigar type plug. The cigar plug houses a glass fuse to protect the TV. If you should need to replace the fuse this can be done by carefully rotating the end of the plug. This plug should not be removed as your TV will not have the protection of the fuse and the warranty will be invalidated. If your vehicle has a different type of socket you should purchase an adapter either from us or your local caravan dealer. Details of our adapters can be found in the accessories section.
When connecting the L185TR TV you should follow the same safety princple as connecting your hook up lead, when setting up connect the TV end first, wall socket end second. When packing away disconnect the wall socket end first, TV end second. It is also important to completely turn the TV off with the main ON/OFF switch situated on the bottom panel rather than just turning to standby as if the main switch is left "ON" when you next connect the TV there will be a surge of power that may blow the fuse. Whilst the L185TR only uses a small amount of power in standby, turning the main switch "OFF" will also save your valuable battery power when rallying / wild camping.
