Digital TV Switch Over
In October 2012 the R.O.I. turned off Analogue Terrestrial TV Broadcasts and therefore now only have a Digital TV service. The Broadcast Standard chosen by the Irish Authorities is different to the rest of Europe and as such any Standard Definition TV's bought in the UK or else where in Europe will not work in Ireland.
You can watch British and European programmes via satellite whilst in R.O.I. but not RTE.
If you have a normal TV and want to watch Irish Broadcasters such as RTE then you will need to purchase an Irish set top box in Ireland. Thier equivalent to Feeview is called Saorview.

Avtex L215DRS 12v TV - Description
The L215DRS from Avtex is the biggest in the range of 12v/24v/230v LCD/LED TV's with a Triple Tuning System. Along with Analogue and Digital Tuners for receiving Terrestrial Broadcasts the "DRS" models have a built-in HD Satellite Reciever (DVB-S2). This gives you more flexibility in choosing your source for live TV Broadcasts, is easier to install with one less box and uses less of your valuable battery power when wild camping or rallying.
The L215DRS has been designed and manufactured from the ground up for use in a mobile environment such as a boat, caravan or motorhome. Consequently it has superior quality components and excellent build quality to cope with the increased vibration and harshness you are likely to encounter whilst travelling. It is also safe to use with variable input voltages and can even work in a 24v truck or truck based vehicle like horseboxes. Ease of use has been a priorty with the unique AQT (Avtex Quick Tune) one button tuning system that aids you in tuning without having to navigate several menus and it will store the channels in the correct order. Target Region Tuning is also included should your holiday destination be capable of picking up broadcasts from two different transmitters you will be able to select what region you want to watch.
The inclusion of an integrated Satellite Reciever allows you to watch British TV programmes whilst holidaying abroad (satellite dish not inc) and can be very useful even in the UK should you prefer to camp in areas that have poor reception for Terretrial Broadcasts. The integrated receiver is Free To Air (FTA) so no subscriptions are required to be able to view hundreds of channels. If however you want to watch an encrypted SKY Channel then you will still require an external SKY HD box.
The L215DRS has a USB port allowing you to pause/record live TV being received from the "Freeview" service on to a Pen Drive or external HDD. No other sources can be recorded and the maximum HDD supported is 250Gb so if you have a large HDD don't forget to partion it first. This TV is a comprehensive entertainment system but should you wish to connect other devices there two HDMI sockets for HD sources like Blueray Disc or HD camera but not unfortunately any Standard Definition sockets.
To the right hand edge there is a built-in DVD drive for watching films and can also be used to play Audio CD's and CD-ROM's.

Please note that the latest generation of TV's are significantly slimmer than previous models. If you intend to mount your L215DR on a VESA wall bracket please ensure that you use bolts of an appropriate length as using bolts that are too long may damage the TV. We can supply short bolts if required, please contact us.
Avtex L215DRS - Connecting to 12v circuit
The Avtex L215DRS is supplied with a 12v lead terminated in a cigar type plug. The cigar plug houses a glass fuse to protect the TV. If you should need to replace the fuse this can be done by carefully rotating the end of the plug. This plug should not be removed as your TV will not have the protection of the fuse and the warranty will be invalidated. If your vehicle has a different type of socket you should purchase an adapter either from us or your local caravan dealer. Details of our adapters can be found in the accessories section.
When connecting the L215DRS TV you should follow the same safety princple as connecting your hook up lead, when setting up connect the TV end first, wall socket end second. When packing away disconnect the wall socket end first, TV end second. It is also important to completely turn the TV off with the main ON/OFF switch situated on the bottom panel rather than just turning to standby as if the main switch is left "ON" when you next connect the TV there will be a surge of power that may blow the fuse. Whilst the L215DRS only uses a small amount of power in standby, turning the main switch "OFF" will also save your valuable battery power when rallying / wild camping.
