In October 2012 the R.O.I. turned off Analogue Terrestrial TV Broadcasts and therefore now only have a Digital TV service. The Broadcast Standard chosen by the Irish Authorities is different to the rest of Europe and as such any Standard Definition TV's bought in the UK or else where in Europe will not work in Ireland.
You can watch British and European programmes via satellite whilst in R.O.I. but not RTE.
If you have a normal TV and want to watch Irish Broadcasters such as RTE then you will need to purchase an Irish set top box in Ireland. Thier equivalent to Feeview is called Saorview.
The Fringe Pro TV/Satellite Meter is Designed and Manufactured in Britain by a company with many years experience supplying the trade with quality TV reception equipment. It is very easy to use like the sister "UHF" model. When being used for aligning a Terrestrial TV Aerial power is supplied from the included 9v battery, when aligning a Satellite TV Dish the Satellite Receiver will send power up the coaxial cable.
Many people believe the only difference between the models is that the Pro is Dual Purpose. The Pro has more sensitivity than the standard model when used for Terrestrial Aerials. This can be of considerable advantage if you regularly holiday in poor reception aeras. We would strongly recommend this meter for use with conventional aerials and the Status type roof mounted aerials as fitted to most British Caravans / Motorhomes.
We do not recommend the Pro Meter for use with the Avtex STH1000/2000 aerials if you normally power the Avtex Aerial via the Avtex TV. You can use it if you power the aerial via the seperate cigar plug power adapter.
