In October 2012 the R.O.I. turned off Analogue Terrestrial TV Broadcasts and therefore now only have a Digital TV service. The Broadcast Standard chosen by the Irish Authorities is different to the rest of Europe and as such any Standard Definition TV's bought in the UK or else where in Europe will not work in Ireland.
You can watch British and European programmes via satellite whilst in R.O.I. but not RTE.
If you have a normal TV and want to watch Irish Broadcasters such as RTE then you will need to purchase an Irish set top box in Ireland. Thier equivalent to Feeview is called Saorview.
The Fringe UHF TV Aerial Meter is Designed and Manufactured in Britain by a company with many years experience supplying the trade with quality TV reception equipment. It is very easy to use, simply connect your TV Aerial, turn on the meter with the slide switch on the side and rotate your aerial until you have the highest reading on the LED bar graph. Job done!
The UHF TV meter is powered by the supplied 9v battery and does allow antenna power to pass through the meter when you are using an active aerial such as the Avtex STH1000/STH2000. The sister "Pro" model does not have this facility and therefore means you need to connect the Avtex Aerials to an external power source.
